Grin Hello to from MotorheadMalc.

Hello Tech support Forum!
The user name? Well, when I was in high school, I decided I liked heavy rock/metal. The change in hair length and general attire led to a nickname. Many years later, the internet appeared for everyone, and I decided it would be a good online user name. Addressing me as Malc/Malcolm is just fine though.

This is a very big, and strange to navigate for a Noob; kind of forum!

Someone very kindly gave me a redundant HP Pavilion 6712 PC, and despite it's slowness, I love it! It's very robust I have to say. I've been in total lock up situations where -with trepidation- I've had to 'dump' by pressing the off button on the tower. Last time I did this, I did a disk check upon re-boot and the HD was still intact! A friend helped me trim loads of settings, and by running CCleaner thoroughly, and de-fragging, I notice an improvement today. This happened last night via Skype.

I'd like to upgrade to the max. 512mb of RAM available (PC133 apparently) but having read the excellent sticky thread about buying such, I tried to do a search within this forum.....

Oh dear!
I hit search, and got this message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1048576 bytes) in /home/tsf/public_html/search.php on line 1011

I'm just gonna start a new thread in RAM & Power Supply Support I think. Sorry if it's a repeat, but as I say, the on site search engine is being funny.
