New Gigabit ethernet card & Verizon

Hey all I'm new to the forums and have a simple question I think,

At home I have Verizon FIOS and recently there were big storms and knocked out my onboard ethernet port... so I went out and bought a new PCI plug and play card from Linksys. (Linksys 10/100/1000 Gigabit network adapter model # EG1032) I go to play it in my computer, the computer reads it but it can not connect to the internet. It says there is "Limited or No connectivity."

I also have another plug n play card from a few years back in my other computer that I took out and tried it in the broken computer, it works perfectly.

So I guess my real question is, does Verizon FIOS support Gigabit ethernet cards? Or do I need to get a new ethernet wire or adapter? or is the card simply faulty.. or anything else..

Thanks,

Matt

- I'm not sure if it matters or not, but both the computers mentioned above are running on XP Home SP2
