Uninstall Norton and restart. Reinstall it and see if the antivirus works now. If you can, switch to
Grisoft AVG instead of using Norton. It uses less resources and does a good job at catching viruses/trojans.
The SMART feature should be for your hard drive. I think it detects and tells you if you have problems with the hard drive or if it's failing. Enable it.
