Hi Dr.,

Haven't loaded 2000 in a long time. Don't remember how it handles this. Other versions of Windoze give you the option of restoring older versions of the registry. Usually backups are automatically done every day on bootup and 5 copies are kept. Win 98 does it from DOS by typing Scanreg. It will check the present Registry and tell you if it's good or not then will let you VIEW the old ones. Pick a date before your problem and let it restore it. If Windows is running you would RUN SCANREGW. Hope this helps a bit.
