Boot from CD/Vista Re-install problem
Hello.
I'm trying to reformat and reinstall Vista Home Premium 64 bit, onto my rig.
I backed up all the data I needed, and disconnected all the nonessential periffs and then inserted the disc (I purchased vista separately as I built my computer myself) and restarted the computer.
When it loaded I waited and it went straight into windows. So I tried again and went into bios and had it boot from cdrom. This worked but it gave me a prompt that said something like:
Boot from cd/dvd y/n:
I wanted to type y and press enter so the computer would boot from cd but nothing would show up. I went into bios and made sure the keyboard was enabled and it is. But I still cant type anything in that prompt. The lights on my keyboard are on so it's getting power, but it is not able to type anything.
I also tried just letting it sit there, thinking maybe it would just bypass it if nothing was entered, but all it did was took me to the screen to the safemode options screen.
As far as I can tell the only way that I can reinstall windows is to be able to enter "y" at that prompt, and it's not letting me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
