IMO the best way is to remove the HDD of your laptop, put in an external enclosure with USB connection and plug that enclosure in another computer. The laptop HDD would be recognized as an external drive that you can OPEN/EXPLORE from My Computer.

Note: You can also use a USB/IDE/SATA adapter cable (search in Google to see how it looks like and where you can get it).
