Here is my situation, I already have a site up under a specific domain name, through a hosting company that is run by the original web designer, however, the guy has not been responding to my emails for the last month and I have no way of reaching him...

I am fed up with this so I want to repoint that domain to another hosting company and rebuild a totally new design for the site , but keep approx 90% of the same text as the original site...( i have accsess to the domain registration account so pointing to a new server is not a problem)

my question is , how will this affect my current rankings with Google, and other search engines? Will this make a big difference on how the site is indexed ?...Will I end up creating 'duplicate content' with the search engines ? I have never attempted to "hiijack" my own site.. is there is anyone who has done this sort of thing before ?

I would really appreciate some feedback.....
