Zserv Trojan returned

Hi again,

I had a hijacking last week and I thought we got it. After I cleaned up with your help, I still had the Microsoft Anti-virus picking up an attempted hijack by My Search Bar. I ran the MS Anti-virus, Ad-Aware SE and Norton and eventually everything scanned clean. All weekend I was running fine other than an occasional time when links from search results (yahoo or google) would time out. Sometime Sunday, I turned on System Restore again.

Monday, the same pests were back. The usual symptom is it takes about 4-5 minutes to logon (I'm loading Norton, Zone Alarm & MS Anti-Virus). Right after everything loads on startup, MS Anti-Virus pops-up from the task bar and tells me that it has allowed navshext.dll to make changes in a green pop-up dialog. Then right behind it, MS Anti-virus tells me My Search Bar browser Plug-in is trying to install. It gives me an option to remove and I always remove it.

I got the same pop-ups about navshext.dll and My Search Bar on Tuesday. I had MS Anti-Virus scan my system and it found several of my old fiends:
- Vx2.zerv
- Begin2Search
- SurfSideKick
- Spyware.jmzxm
- Ezula.weboffer
- WinUpdt

I had it removed them. I did a scan by Trend Micro and it foung Troj_Agent.LQ and I had it remove it.

Today, I got the same pop-up about navshext.dll and My Search bar. I turned off System Restore again, Booted into Safe mode and did a bunch of scans. MS Anti-Virus found ClearSearch and another undefined possible Hijack. I removed them. After running MS Anti-virus, I ran Ad-Aware Vx2 Cleaner and it reported that my system is clean. I ran Ad-Aware system scan and it reported finding nothing. I ran Norton with virus definitions as of 2/21 and Norton reported finding nothing.

But I really got a funny feeling that they are still out there. I just don't know where to look next.

- Do you think that turning System Restore back on had something to do with it coming back?

- Do you think it might be attached somehow to Norton? It seems so strange that I get those alerts about navshext.dll just before seeing an alert about My Search Bar. Otherwise, I never get any alerts from MS anti-spyware. I have a new copy of Norton 2005. I'm thinking about removing Norton 2004 and doing a clean install of Norton 2005.

Help! Just in case, here is the latest processed HijackThis log.
