IBM IntelliStation M Pro - Unable to Upgrade RAM

Hi guys

I have IBM IntelliStation M Pro (6230-34A) with Win XP Pro SP2 & 1 GB Kingston DDR400 RAM. Memory Upgradable up to 4GB.

Recently I bought 1 GB Transcend DDR400 RAM but cannot use it. When I slot it in, the system will show 2 GB RAM but the Windows becomes unstable. Either it will restart automatically or pop-up nice blue screen for me.

When I remove it back to 1 GB, no problem at all. I tried already with another 1 GB Legend DDR400 RAM, but still have the same problem.

And if I put 3 GB RAM, the windows won't start at all (including safe-mode). It will hang when i tried to log on.

do i need to use only the same brand to upgrade memory? or is there any problem with my motherboard?

Anybody can help me with this?

TQ & HAPPY NEW YEAR....
