Have you recently installed an older version of any phone software such as Nokia PC suite? I had similar messages from iTunes and it was traced by a friend of mine who is a tech support to this. Apparently the older versions (those that may have come on disc with the phone) are not particularly compatible with Vista.
Any other software installs just before this started happening - there are a number of software items out there that are not Vista friendly.
