yep its the hd cause previously i had an ide hd and it also used to creat noise like small trrrrrrrr.....trrrrrrrrrrrr...mainly when the hd usage was extensive....now its the same but i only bought this one 3 months ago:(..the noise is very low..like when i turn on the room fan i cant hear it
