Re: My Toshiba Satellite laptop will not power up
Not to bump this thread, but I have the same problem as the original poster. I have a Toshiba Satellite M55-S329 that will not power up. I was using it last night and it just went dead as if the battery was exhausted. In fact, shortly before that, the low battery alarm went off and I plugged in the ac adapter before it turned off. Before it died, there was no low battery alarm. Now when I attempt to turn the computer on, I have to hold the power button for a few seconds to get the light on the power button to turn on. It stays on for about ten seconds before going out. The power supply fan does not turn on and the screen is blank the whole time. I tried taking out the battery and running on ac, same thing happened. I checked the ac adapter output with a voltmeter and it checked good. There are four lights on the front left edge of the laptop: a battery indicator, an ac power indicator, a power on indicator, and one other that I'm not sure of, it has a cylinder symbol next to it, I believe it's a disk drive indicator of some sort. The battery and ac adapter lights are responsive: if I remove either, the corresponding lights go out, so the power supply is at least partially functional. Any help would be very appreciated.
