If your temps are in Celsius, 120C is VERY HIGH. Could burn out the video card or other components with that too much heat. Try cleaning out the vents or open the laptop up and make sure vents are clear from any obstruction.
As for the HDD diagnostics... take your HDD brand and download its diagnostic tool (see HDD Diags link on my sig).
