acer 5315 hdd password removal

Hi guys and 1st let me say thx for other advice I recieved here. OK My daughter "borrowed" my acer and when I got it back the bios had a password on it, thx to advice from here I got rid of the bios password but am now left with a hard disk password. She claims she never put one on anything (strange that they appeared after she used the lappy) anyway... I can enter the bios but there is a password on the hdd so it wont boot... Is it as simple as replacing the hdd (bet its not) or is there a way to remove the password.. Or would a bios flash in dos mode remove it ???Acer want money (as usual) to to anything to help... So am seeking advice/help from you guys.. (I did see somewhere that it may be removed by taking the battery out for 30mins but not sure about that... any help greatly appreciated...
