My cousin has (seems) almost similar problem as "sparcz". He has a Hp Pavillion Dv6000 with core dual processor with windows XP. He got it in 2006. He has not made recovery disks. However, the pc has an internal recovery disk.
It's been 2 weeks now since it developed this problem. Whenever he switches on the computer, it turns on but nothing is seen on the screen. He tried connecting an external monitor it also shows nothing.
However, the monitor is not completely dead. If look closer, the hp logo can be seen.
Unfortunately he did not have any backup of his experimental results for his research.
Please help.
