Intel Wireless 5100 + Vista 64bit problems

I've been having a problem with my new laptop's wireless connection.

The laptop is a Gateway 7811FX, I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit SP1 on it. Fairly clean install still.

The problem is sort of strange. I'll fire up the laptop, get on my wireless connection and never lose the connection, but no websites will pull up, games will cease to work, etc... yet I can still ping URLs and IP addresses no problem. The event viewer shows nothing odd going on, and like I said I never loose the wireless connection, it remains connected the entire time.

So far I've attempted to update the bios, the drivers, and run all windows updates. I've tried disabling IPv6 and QoS as well as a couple other things.

I know the wireless card in the laptop is an Intel 5100 and is currently running I believe Intel's 12.1.2.1 (if I remember right) drivers.

If I disable the wireless connection and reenable it or turn the card off and back on I'll regain that full connectivity for a short period of time.

At this point I don't know whether this is a Vista issue or if it's a card issue.
