Cant connect to wireless

My Toshiba Satellite laptop is brand new and wont connect to wireless. I even unplugged my working desktop computer and plugged the modem directly into my laptop and nothing. i have one laptop that works on my wireless already. All it says when i try to connect is "Windows cannot connect to HomeNetwork" i've used all the trouble shooters and stuff on my computer so i'm hoping someone out there knows. I've also gone to the command prompt and typed in Ipconfig and instead of what it usually does it says

Windows IP Configuaration

Wireless Lan adappter Wireless Network Connection:

Media state............................... Media disconnected
Connection-specific Dns Suffix

Then says the same thing about Ethernet and 2 things called "Tunnel Adapter"

Thanks to anyone with answers, Ps, i dont know much about computers so i may not be able to answer many questions about my laptop anyone might have
