Windows XP very slow to load

Hey Guys im hoping you can help as i ve been racking my brains for days now without much luck

This is my system setup at present

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
2.30 gigahertz AMD Phenom 8650 Triple-Core
Motherboard : MSI K9AGM3
4gb RAM
HDD 750mb ST3750840AS

My PC is about 6 weeks old and takes about 4 mins to load and i cant work out why i have no spyware and no virus's and not many programs in my startup list

I have all system files in a 20gb partition with plenty of room to spare

any help or suggestions would be much appreciated as i just dont know what else to do now

Many thx in advance
