You do need to check that because one may be set as Cable Select instead of master or slave settings. Whatever the main drive is (cable select or Master/Slave) the other drive in that computer must have the same TYPE of jumper settings. If one is Cable Select, then the other must be cable select....If one is master, the other must be slave. The master or boot drive always goes on the end of the ribbon cable and is the master drive.
