Question need helping swapping a hard drive

Hello all,

I need some advice. I am in the process of fixing my fiance's grandma computer. The situation started like this, she could not turn on her PC. First I thought it was a bad power supply. I checked it out and it was not that because I used another power supply and it still would not turn on. I than proceeded to check the power on switch and it was working correctly. So I am thinking there may be a failure on the mother board? In any event I removed the hard drive from the "broken" pc and I am trying to install it in another PC. But when I installed it, I get the "mup.sys" error whenever I boot up the computer. First I get the screen asking me my options: Safe mode, safe mode with networking, etc. and Normal. However when I select any of the options I have, I eventually get to a DOS line and it freezes giving me the Mup.sys error. I do not have anything plugged into the computer except for a keyboard. Any advice?
