I do not know what you mean exactly as 'it's not working'. I am assuming it is again missing in Device Manager. I suggest you boot using a bootable CD/DVD media like a linux live CD or BartPE XP. If it boots well with the CD/DVD drive then you can say the drive is working (as it was able to read the media). You can now focus on your Windows where you can do a repair or a reinstall or update.
