Okay, I managed to get VGA mode going, and I installed the driver, but no change.

This is my desktop, with the Display window open in case that helps. The red highlights are some of what don't look right to me, and the green is the driver I was using. Not sure if you can tell what that is just by looking at that though. xD

Hopefully this can give you a clearer idea of what I meant if you were unsure. (:
