Vista Installation On Brand New Builds
I can offer no help unfortunately, but I do have a Vista boot-issue of my own, and I've searched threads across the net, but cannot find an answer to my problem; and a lot of people apparently have had this problem.
My Specs are:
1. Asus P5N7A-VM Core 2 Quad/ GeForce 9300/ FSB 1333/ Hybrid SLI/ HDMI/ A&V&GbE/ MATX Motherboard
3. 500GB 7200RPM SATA2 HDD
4. 37GB 10000RPM Raptor HDD (for OS)
7. Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad-Core (2.4GHz 8MB 1066FSB)
8. 8GB 800MHz (4X-2GB) DDR2 PC6400 RAM (NOTE; I HAVE JUST ONE STICK IN NOW)
9. BLACK 22X Dual Layer DVD-RW Burner w/ Lightscribe
10. Generic SY-VIA-4FC 4-Port Firewire 1394a PCI card
Now, I originally wanted to Install Vista x64 bit, but when I turn on the machine and boot from Vista Install Disc (ultimate), I immediately get error message "...checksum does not match the computed checksum," and I can never get any further than that.
Odd thing is, I'm able to install Windows XP SP1 without problem. What can I do; is there something in my BIOS that needs to be changed to run 64bit? I can't run the Vista Setup from XP-Pro because it says it's a 64bit installer and I'm running 32-bit OS.
Help would be great; this is my first build, and I'm thinking I should have just stuck with factory. I thought I could do it, but I'm beginning to think I was wrong.
Thanks; josh
