to check how much ram / memory is installed do this
select (start
right click (My Computer
then in the drop down menu select (Proprties
it will show you the amount of ram/ memory installed in your system at the bottom of the window
also can you tell me the compleat (brand name / model # & version of the system
as in
Compaq Presario sr1703wm < example
