Resolution problem...Not really sure what....

Hey all,

I'm pretty much a computer noob, as well as a noob here, so apologies in a advance for any vague descriptions. xD

Ok, so I recently reinstalled Windows XP on my HP Pavilion zv6000 laptop because the memory was completely full. Also, my graphics card is an ATI Mobility Xpress Radeon 200.

I did this successfully on the most part. Everything was gone, with a bit of help I got my internet running again, it all seemed good.

The problem was the resolution. Icons, particularly the ones in the bottom right, such as volume control are larger and not at all sharp. Which I thought was odd since its not always been like that.

After installing a driver or two from the HP site, I ran out of ideas. So my last plan was to go to Device Manager, click Display Adapters, and uninstall my graphic card.

Once I'd restarted, I installed the driver again. After rebboting once more, things seemed great. Next time I turned on though, it was all back to what it was before the uninstall/reinstall.

I've tried this a few times since but can't get the effects to stay permanent. This is where I hope you guys can step on. Either tell me how to do what I'm doing correctly, or just tell me I'm being an idiot and there is such an obvious way of doing things, lol.

Thanks anyone who can help. (:
