Internet Connection dying after 10 minutes

Here's my probelm:

On booting XP I have around 10 minutes before my internet connection slows tothe point where the brouser shows error messages at not being able to load the page. My internet connection says it is still working, and repairing has no effect. I have to restart my computer to get it working again.

I have verified that it isn't the ISP since I carried the pc into work yesterday and had the same problem. Besides testing it at work, I've changed out NICs with no difference. BTW, it DOES work in safe mode with networking.

My friend at work says the next step is to rebuild the pc. Any other ideas before I resort to that? Oh yes, I'm not super savvy about pcs, but I'm not afraid to try things!

Thanks in advance for your help.
