I seem to remember that it's visible, under certain conditions, to the naked eye.
You need a clear sky with little or no ambient lighting around (street-lights, house lights etc.) and you need to know exactly where to look (Google might be of help, there

). All you can see is what appears to be a bright(ish) star moving at approx. the same apparent speed as a very high aircraft. Any form of magnification will show more of the station, depending on the quality of the lenses.
There's several other large satellites visible too - with the same limitations
