Re: my laptop hangs after hibernation

Do you mean during going into hibernation or when trying to resume after hibernation? How much RAM do you have and how big a harddisk?

I have found that you can only hibernate so many times before you must totally shutdown and restart Windows. And after running some applications you will have trouble hibernating just once or twice.

This is because (in my opinion or guessing) memory (RAM) gets fragmented during normal operation of starting and stopping programs and this causes trouble trying to hibernate. The more RAM you have (suggest 500 MB minimum, 1 GB or more is best), the more often you can hibernate successfully.

You could also have a very fragmented or full hard disk so run DEFRAG if you haven't lately.
