I had the same thing happen the other day. Hard drive said write protected. Not even a floppy disk would boot. Then I realized when I hit delete for setup while turning the computer on, both the hard drive and floppy were flipped to write protect in the bios.

Here are some options...

1. The write protect is in your bios (press Del, F1, or some other function as your computer turns on, it will tell you briefly what to press). You select "enable" write protect and it will ask you for a password if you setup one. Note: not all bios versions offer this option.

2. You need to check the jumper settings, some hard drives have a jumper on them for write protect.

3. Try unplugging the drive for a couple of minutes and then plug back in.
