If you are wireless connected to the router, nothing (But you will lag)
To hardwire you should have extra ports on the router (maybe 4 ports).
Just use a Cat5 cable to connect DIRECTLY to the router or MODEM to the laptop or PC, (about $5.00 for a CAT5 network cable)
You should beable to connect DIRECTLY to the router (HARDWIRE CAT5 cable) and see if you have the same issues.
If you do, you may have other issues besides the router.
