Re: Application Conflict/Overlap?

Hello -

You don't mention a dedicated AntiVirus application. None of those are. An AntiVirus application is a critical component of computer security.

wondering if there was any overlap
Depends on which versions of the products you have. If they're all the free versions, there should be no conflict.

WinPatrol, SpywareBlaster,MalwareBytes Anti-malware, Spybot Search and Destroy and finally AOL spyware protection(this came with my ISP provider).
Of those, I personally, would drop the AOL Spyware protection. WinPatrol and SpywareBlaster work in the background and use little in the way of system resources. They also protect differently. I use both on my system.

MBAM, if free, is an on demand scanner. Only it's paid version has real time protection. Spybot S&D uses it's TeaTimer component as registry protection, and has other system protection components, in addition to being an on demand scanner. Some of that is duplicated in WinPatrol.
