56 and 78, I'm assuming refer to the markings on your mobo's schematic that comes with the documentation; I have a P4P800 Deluxe, and I'm deducing your situation vis a vis USB headers is identical, here.

The USB ports on the rear of your mobo are ports 1-4; 56 and 78 refer to the internal USB headers 5,6,7,8, the pins for 5 and 6 grouped together, and the pins for 7 and 8 grouped together. I'd check your documentation, but I can't imagine you'd fry your mobo if you used a particular header and not another; it's more important that you put the right pins to the right blocks, etc.

Just to be safe, you might as well start at header #5 and work your way up, numerically.
Thanks for the reply, I found the problem to be the card the ports are mounted on in the front panel, any idea where I could get such a card?
