for cpu installation the triangle on cpu is matched to triangle on socket, check manual for detailed instructions and be sure to clean cpu and heatsink then apply fresh dab of thermal paste prior to install.
they're generally pretty tough so should be okay, but verify there are no bent pins on cpu.
