the board is for a 4 pin socket, are you connecting to the right location? {it's in the corner near the battery.}

edit: if speaker was connected properly then I think you have made more than a reasonable effort to resolve the problem and it's time to take the mobo back and get a replacement-it's new and it shouldn't be causing you this much grief.
