Re: Win 2K user Environment error

I removed an application called Net-It Launcher (NIlauncher.exe). I researched the program and found that it was not essential and could be removed. However, that is when my problems began.
As far as I can tell, the application has something to do with web development.
A few new problems have come to my attention since my first writing. Windows2000 will load using the default configuration. However, I have noticed problems with the operation of Microsoft Office 2000. None of the menu bar items launch the individual applications and when I attempt to launch the applications from the original .exe files in the Microsoft Office folder, I get a warning telling me that the installation had not been completed from an earlier installation. The funny thing is that there seems to be nothing wrong with the directory structure or data files associated with Microsoft Office. In addition, the system is periodically throwing "windows installer" boxes up on screen. These will usually disappear in a few seconds without user involvement.
Other applications like Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Lotus Notes seem to work fine.

I would like to fix the machine without resorting to re-installing Windows2000. I have a full edition (not the one that came with the laptop). I'm not sure what re-installation of Win2K will do to the applications and data that are on this computer. Will Windows2000 only affect the C:\Winnt directory?

Thanks for your help!
