I have 20+ pst files with various sizes and at least once a day I will have to close and reopen Outlook in order to access them.
As a workaround, I close as many pst files as possible and re-open pst files as necessary.
I also found that I can still move emails to a .pst file even after I “closed” it. Amazing!
