First, reset the Belkin router to factory defaults, just to remove any issue in that regard. Second, make sure the TCP/IP properties in Network Properties are set to obtain an IP and DNS address automatically.

As far as the ME machine, I'd pickup an Ethernet NIC, they're about $10 or so.

Finally, I'd consider posting the exact model numbers of all equipment, the versions of Windows you're running, and the ISP you're connecting to. It helps to know some of this stuff.
