Do you like to help others? Has your machine been infected in the past, and you want to fight back?
The Academy will provide the framework, resources and staff to help individuals learn the skills of analysis log interpretation and repair of infected systems using the ever-changing array of tools often necessary to complete those repairs.
Working towards becoming an Analyst will be a challenge. Modern malware removal is not easy, and not something one can dabble in. It takes focus and dedication to complete the training, as well as to remain current once graduated. Having detailed knowledge of how Windows based computers operate is very helpful, but is not a prerequisite. Those with less knowledge of computer function will learn a great deal about that subject as well.
The reward is constant learning, the satisfaction of a successful removal, and the knowledge of having helped someone.
As with most other malware removal training facilities, the Academy is not intended for self help lessons or commercial purposes. The purpose of the Academy is to train malware fighters who will volunteer to help others in the forums. If your application to join the Academy is solely to support your business, then this isn't for you. However, if you will give some time back to the community in return for your training, then please do apply.
Active removal topics
If you have an active malware removal topic open, please do not apply until it’s been cleared and closed.
Multiple school enrollment
We feel that it’s in your best interest to participate in only one malware removal training program at a time. While some may benefit from enrollment in multiple schools, doing so also can lead to spreading oneself too thin, and lead to early burnout. This can waste not only your time, but also the time of everyone else involved.
Malware removal while undergoing training
You are not to respond to HijackThis logs or provide malware removal assistance at any other forums, unless under the guidance of an expert trainer at an approved malware removal training facility.
Time Commitment
The school is self-paced, and as such, we cannot give specific timelines regarding length of time to graduation. Generally speaking, it’s at least a 6 - 9 month commitment just to get to the point of working under supervision with live users in the forums, and at least a couple more months to be able to work unsupervised as a graduated Analyst.
Active Commitment
While this is a self paced program, it works best when one is immersed in it. Therefore, we will remove HJT trainees after 30 days of inactivity. Naturally, some may find once they begin that this is not for them. You’re of course not obligated in any way to complete the training, and may drop out at any time. We hope that by providing details of the commitment needed we will avoid that, and that all who apply are intent on becoming forum helpers. We look forward to helping you achieve that goal.

**For the time being, we are not accepting any new applications. We have as many trainees as we can effectively handle.
Applications to The Academy are not automatically approved. They are reviewed and processed. While it's our goal to do this within 72 hours, it may take longer. Please be patient, as we do reply to all applications. You will receive a reply with instructions on how to proceed if you are accepted, or a notification of denial.
Note: We reserve the right to deny any application.
