no.... lights on the keyboard mean its works....period...
however windows does nto see it, so that means it pure os related(if he can get into the bios the port is working or else the bios would either toss a code saying no keyboard attached or he would have no lights, and no access to the bios)

passthrough authenication, its permissions, on the computer your on now create a local account SAME username password... and test it
also on your hole issue, the best bet is to just start frest delete all partitions
created a new C and load your os there, then creat more patitions for the vm and other storage needs
i can help you fix the kb, but you will have alot of other errors you will discover down the road....at this point start fresh...
btw...even with the sys vol, your applications still need to have dlls/application files registered sysvol does not have those registered dlls/applications in it
