You might have to attack it from the other end, rather than buying any more mouse and keyboards, it might be a motherboard problem and you may have to think about taking it to some PC repair shop or if your brave enough you could replace the motherboard.

I built this guy about 3 years ago, so I have no problem taking it apart :P. I know it's not a hardware issue at all though, because everything works fine in BIOS and installing a fresh XP also works.
Most likely it's looking for a driver from my previous installation which I no longer have for the keyboard. Don't know why that'd be the case because I'm in the repair part, but that's the only thing I can think of.
