[SOLVED] Bad Voltages perhaps causing PC to Hang?
Hello,
it's my first time here, and for good reason. You see my little nephew was playing around on my computer, he decided to plug in a faulty USB cord, and start attaching the exposed wires to parts of metal in the area, after i quickly removed him from the computer, i noticed funny things happening to the computer, such as frequent program hangs, particularly when trying to do something CD/DVD related (IE: Burning and ISO to disk) and i checked the error logs, and it had the following line, which i have never encountered before. The Title was ATAPI
The device, \Device\Ide\IdePort1, did not respond within the timeout period.
I was just wondering whether something is wrong with the motherboard, or it's just because my nephew did what he did, i've heard that messed up voltages stored within the motherboard can stuff up things, unless it's fully unplugged and all sources of power are removed for at least 30 seconds.
Is anything wrong with the motherboard or any hardware, and is there a solution?
Thank You,
-Sam
The Motherboard is a Foxconn, and the Processor is a Celeron D (2.6+ GHz) and the Hard Drives are a Seagate 75GB and a Western Digital 75GB both running on Parallel ATA (Pata/IDE) connection, and the DVD Drives are a Lite-On, and LG DVD. It's running Windows XP Professional SP2, and has 1GB of RAM.
I can get exact hardware names, if needed, but that is the quick rundown.
