Mom_needs_help

I have had a very similiar problem...I have an acer 3680 notebook. Only a year old and my children have somehow managed to snap off the pin. I have tried to have it soldered back on but it didn't work. I am wondering if there is a way to wire the power directly into where the battery connects. I realize that I will loose the whole point of having a laptop (portability), but I just can't afford a new computer right now. Any ideas?
