Dell Inspiron 5150 Help

Ahh!! Help!
I was trying to fix my laptop by cleaning out the heat sink and fan. I followed some steps I found on a website, and got a long just fine. I tried to remove the heat sink/fan unit but couldn't, so i decided to just give up and put the laptop back together.
When I was putting it back together the clear strip (like in this picture) snapped. When I try to turn the computer back on, it starts up for about 5 seconds an then shuts down. Is it because I am an idiot and broke this or is it something else? I can take pictures.
Man this is terrible.
This isn't my computer but the strip on the left is what I broke
