-- in Device Manager it should be under Network controllers. If it is NOT there, look for anything 'UNKNOWN'. If still nothing, try a working WiFi card or try your card in another laptop.

-- I really doubt it. As I said, the best way for you to know is to use another card or use your card in another laptop. There you can rule out BIOS update or installation of SP2 or a registry mix up.

-- Of course, another way is to bring it to a repair shop.
