Re: Netzero and Vista HELP

lemme ask you, did you upgrade from win98 to Vista or did you clean install Vista?

first, check the version of netzero you are using by right-clicking on the nz icon on the notification area. click on "system information" then look at client version. it should say
A0859DN or higher (preferably A0874DN). if yes, then you have the compatible version for vista. if not, then make sure to download the latest version from the site which should be 8.7.4

now, for "modem in use" errors when you're already offline might indicate a modem issue so you might want to uninstall/reinstall the modem drivers or update it if possible. also check if you have other programs that might be using the modem. use the task manager to verify.

lastly, that 2222 number is a dummy number used by the netzero connectoid. most likely, it is triggered by the auto-dialer in Vista.

to disable the auto dialer:

1) go to the "Network and Sharing Center" under Control Panel. click on "Manage network connections," then from the File menu, click on "Advanced." Then click on "Remote Access Preferences"

2) uncheck any locations listed in the "Enable autodial by location" window, and place checkmarks beside "Always ask me before autodialing" and "Disable autodial while I am logged on" then click “OK” and close all windows.
