Re: Internet Connectivity failed with Vista

I am having same problem - following a lightening storm my new Dell Inspiron desktop running on vista will generally not connect to internet either through the wireless card or via direct dsl cable to modem. After being on for a couple of hours or longer it connects for an hour or so then disconnects again. Message varies sometimes indicating "partially connected" other times saying its connected to router but router is not connected to internet. Initially assuming that the desktop wireless card was bad, I bought an external USB wireless card and installed - it has the same problems. There is no problem with router - my 2 laptops connect with no problems - and work with both wireless or DSL cable. Neither of them runs on vista. Device manager says all devices are working properly. Tried repair function and diagnsotics - indicated problem is router not connected to internet, but router is fine. Called Dell tech support and they recommednded reintsalling vista- which I'm trying to avoid doing as it will be a pain to reinstall everything else. Any thoughts?
