Here's an update, if some1 is facing the same troubles..

I got another 512MB stick. Having the original in #1, I placed the new one in #3. Booted OK, system recognized both properly, as 512MB each.

Then I tried to place the two 256MB ones in #2 and #4. Guess what? System reports 4 sticks, 256MB each!!

Any suggestions? Or do I just leave the 2x512 and feel thankful? ;)
