Re: BSOD - PC crash

Hi Kim. . .

I ran the last mini dump so that I could get something to you before I left for the day.

The STOP error (bugcheck) is 0x1000007E (0xc0000005, 0x8234028d, 0x8b7cbb38, 0x8b7cb834), with the probable cause being the ALWIL !Avast driver aswMonFlt.sys. The bugcheck 0x7e long with the exception 0xc..5, means that the driver attempted to access memory that is out-of-bounds or is just bad. I believe the former occurred here, as the !vast driver has a timestamp on it of Saturday, July 19, 2008 - obviously recently updated.

Un-install !avast and reset your Windows Firewall, as it is listed as currently disabled. There also seems to be an issue with Windows Defender. Also, you have Super Anti Syware installed.
Code:
Windows Internal Firewall is disabled.

AV: avast! antivirus 4.8.1229 [VPS 080727-0] v4.8.1229 (ALWIL Software)
AS: Windows Defender v1.1.1505.0 (Microsoft Corporation) Disabled Outdated
AS: SUPERAntiSpyware v4, 15, 0, 1000 (SUPERAntiSpyware.com) Disabled
AS: avast! antivirus 4.8.1229 [VPS 080727-0] v4.8.1229 (ALWIL Software)
That is all that I have for now... please let me know how you make out on the avast, windows firewall and windows defender.

Regards. . .

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 8234028d, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: 8b7cbb38, Exception Record Address
Arg4: 8b7cb834, Context Record Address
