Alright, I know this is an old game. After doing some searching, it seems with the newer operating systems, people have issues with the game. I am also having issues, and while I have searched numerous websites, I have yet to find a solution.

BTW, this isn't a pirated game, although it is an old copy that a friend gave me.

I managed to install the game, and when I try to play, nothing happens. I have to ctrl+alt+dlt and close the non responding game.

I downloaded the 1.2 patch, and clicking on the new .exe does the same thing unless I go into the FFVIII config and put it on software render instead of hardware. Once its on software render, it will actually start the game, and get all the way to the option of new game, continue, or credits. If I click on credits, it will scroll the credits....Continue will bring up the load game screen, but if I click on new game, it shuts down immediately. Goes back to windows, quits responding.

Alright, I read a bit on here, and also did the 'first steps'. My system specs are:

Dell inspiron 1521
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit
AMD Turion 64X2 1.9 GHz
4 GB DDR2
ATI X1200 series (I think its 1270)
Newest Catalyst, and DX 9

Anyone have any ideas?
