Mac, I had a very similar issue. My right clicks would prompt a pop-up asking me to install some search program from my A:drive. My anti-virus couldn't spot it.
I downloaded some Anti-Malware tools and they sorted it.

Don't you have the option in Add/Remove Programs to uninstall SP3? I do, though I won't be using it.
